HEATED E-MAIL DEBATE, No. 1 - Obesity
I don't know whether this has been your experience, but every great planner I?ve ever met has had strong opinions. Strong opinions about their jobs, the world of communications, and the world. It occurred to us here on the APG Committee that it might be interesting to poke a stick at some of these planning opinion formers, and then stand back and see what happened. So we persuaded Richard Huntington to go head-to-head with a young challenger, Verra Budimlija of M&C Saatchi, and have a good old argument. The topic we set to get them going was:
'Advertising's role in creating obesity, and its capacity to reduce it, have been grossly exaggerated'. Discuss

Firstly we have a piece called 'Neutral strategy and partial planning', which is 'a critique on the newly emerged dogma of media neutral planning' by Antonis Kocheilas who is Planning Director at Bold Ogilvy in Athens. The second one is a meditation on brands, globalness, planning and stuff from Chris Riley, formerly Global Planning Director at Wieden + Kennedy in Portland, currently consultant to big brands for big agencies.
