APG Arrive & Thrive

Mentoring Training: How to be a Mentor (and be mentored)
This programme has been postponed. New dates TBA.

New joiners in agencies need structure and support to thrive in their new job especially if they come from non-traditional backgrounds.

Whilst agencies sometimes appoint mentors for the new joiners, those mentors are often unsure about what is expected of them, how they should manage the relationship and how they should behave.

How to be a Mentor (and be mentored) is a new training programme for potential mentors

to learn mentoring skills and how to help your mentee navigate an unfamiliar agency culture.

Crucially this programme also includes support for the mentees so that they learn how to get the most out of the mentoring process.

How it works
For mentors:

A half day of live training supplemented by a virtual session to support the mentoring process.

For mentees:

Mentees will get an introductory session to prepare them for getting the most out of the mentoring process.

For mentors and mentees:

There will be 3 additional webinars for both mentors and mentees covering topics such as speaking up in meetings, confidence to challenge ideas and how to navigate your own career development

Who can take part?

Planning leaders can nominate pairs of mentor and mentee for the training.

The mentee should be a very recent joiner and the mentor, a planner/strategist with 3 to 5 years’ experience.

What does it cost?

APG is offering this training at an exceptionally low price point as part of the Arrive and Thrive initiative to help agencies get better at recruiting from diverse and more disadvantaged backgrounds and helping those recruits flourish in an unfamiliar and sometimes alienating culture.

APG Member mentors = £250+vat

Non-members mentors = £350+vat

(Mentees do not pay to be a part of the programme)
