Workshop Description

This workshop offers a comprehensive, practical and down-to-earth guide to managing stress and building resilience. It is run by Paul Phillips who spent over 30 (stress-filled) years in agencies. He has rooted the content in science and neuroscience and geared it to the types of stress people experience in agency life.

This workshop covers the following areas:

  • Setting the context - stress in today’s world.

  • How the body and brain respond to stress and the effect of the stress reaction. The balance between good v unhelpful stress.

  • Techniques and exercises for re-framing your thinking and how you assess and handle stressful challenges.

  • Practical ideas on how you can change the way you work day-to-day and manage your workload to alleviate stress.

  • A down-to-earth review of theories and techniques around mindfulness and breathing exercises, including clinical evidence of how they impact the stress reaction in the body. A review of the apps and other tools available.

  • How other lifestyle choices impact stress (sleep, exercise and diet).

About the Tutor

Paul spent his career in account management, first at Ogilvy and then FCB in San Francisco. He then went to VCCP as a partner where he founded and became MD of VCCP Health which he built up and ran successfully for 8 years. Whilst in the role he developed a depth of knowledge and fascination for the interplay between mind and body, and understanding of neuroscience that he has used to create the content of the workshop and the practical exercises that he teaches. ​ In October 2017 Paul decided to step away from agency life and is now running training for clients and agencies.
